Greater Things: A Reminder of God’s Love for You
The other night as I was praying over my daughter before she went to sleep, I found myself whispering this prayer, “may my daughter do greater things than I will do in my lifetime.” Isn’t this true for most parents? We want our kids to do better than us. To be better than us and achieve all they can in the Lord. As I whispered this prayer over her, the Lord reminded me of the verse where He says, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” (John 14:12) “You see,” He said, "I want the same thing for my own children.” Isn’t this so beautiful? Our Heavenly Father wants us to do the things He’s done, but far more, far greater. It also makes me think of the verse that says, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:11)
Ya’ll, what we feel for our children is only a glimpse of what God feels for us. Let that sink in for a minute and remember that the next time you lay eyes on your child. If you needed this reminder today, here it is: God's love for you is so immense, we cannot comprehend it! We probably won’t ever know until the day we lay eyes on Him.
