A Wink from God: Seeing God Even in the Smallest Details

Last week one of my favorite authors, Hannah Brencher, asked a question on Instagram. She asked, “Where did you find God this week?” So many people responded with some amazing stories about how God showed up and did something small or big. One girl mentioned how she ended up driving to the office on the wrong day. This wouldn’t have been a big deal except for the fact that she drove a pretty long distance (over an hour) to get there. However, because of this “mistake,” she ended up being right in the neighborhood when a friend of hers was in crisis and needed her the most!

I read comment after comment blown away by the details in people’s stories. Some were just as small as finding the exact mug online they loved but had broken years ago. It may not seem like a big deal to us, but God cares even about the smallest of things.

Then it was my turn to answer, but you know what’s sad? I couldn’t think of a single thing! Not right away anyway. I know God is in my day to day but I just wasn’t seeing Him. It’s not that He’s not there, it’s just that I wasn't really looking. God is always around, we are just not always seeking Him out.

Then it happened. A few days later I was driving to my favorite coffee shop here in Northern Colorado, Ziggi’s! I live right down the street from one which is both a good and bad thing. I love that it’s close but I have to control myself because if not I will want to give them all my money because I love them so much. On that particular day however I was already having a pretty rough morning. Nothing was going the way I had planned and I was feeling both anxious and frustrated. After ordering a burrito and a coffee, the young girl handed me my food and I noticed something I hadn’t ever seen before. A handwritten note on the bag that read, “Have a beautiful Day.” I will tell you this, in all the time that I have gone to this coffee shop (about a year since they built the one in my location), they have never ever had notes written on their burrito bags. This was a God thing! Call me crazy, but I just knew it. It felt like at that moment he winked at me directly saying, “I got you, I see you, let’s turn this day into a good one.”

Now it’s your turn. Tell me how you’ve seen God show up for you lately? Small or big ways. I can’t wait to hear all about it!
